Laura was invited to serve as a Community Coaching Fellow with Leadership that Works. Laura will co-facilitate the nine-month community coaching certification program for two cohorts offered in Oakland beginning in September 2017. The vision is to bring this coaching program to Los Angeles in the near future.
We are taking our work to the next level. Working in partnership with our friend and long-time consulting partner Wilson & Associates Coaching and Consulting, we are launching The Soluna Group (Soluna).
As a black-brown partnership, Soluna will provide bilingual, culturally competent capacity building, training, and technical support that will help organizations and communities address the systemic factors of racism, classism, intergenerational poverty, deindustrialization, and lack of government investment that cause many men, women, and children to struggle. Like LVA, Soluna Group Stands for Justice and as a team, we can help strengthen the capacity of individuals and communities to build strong families, healthy communities, and thriving children. Last year, Tara Henriquez joined LVA to deepen our contributions to the field of Early Care and Education (ECE) and launch our work statewide! Working in partnership with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Early Educator Training Center, we designed and deliver training on Occupational Health and Safety to ECE family- and center-based providers in Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Santa Clara. The impact of this work was recently featured on KPCC. https://www.google.com/amp/www.scpr.org/news/2017/07/11/73660/bill-aims-to-prevent-child-care-worker-injuries-wi.amp. |
